Other State Provisions & Exemptions

Tandem axles can add 1,000 lbs per each foot of axle spacing above 4 ft, up to 40,000 lbs for a 10-ft spacing.
Weight should not exceed 800 lbs per inch width of tire.
Pennsylvania allows for a 3% weight tolerance on non-Interstate highways.
The state offers an annual permit for containerized cargo with limits of 90,000 lbs for GVW and 21,000 lbs on a single axle.
Vehicles with idle reduction technology are permitted axle, vehicle, or bridge formula weights of up to 400 lbs over the limit.
