Other State Provisions & Exemptions
  • On non-Interstate highways, combinations can exceed axle limits by up to 2,000 lbs, and some vehicles hauling specific commodities can exceed the 80,000-pound GVW limit.
  • Steering axle weight limit is 12,000 lbs.
  • When entering from Kansas or Oklahoma, vehicles can have GVWs of 120,000 lbs and 90,000 lbs, respectively, on certain sections of the Interstate System and other highways.
  • Vehicles with idle reduction technology are permitted axle, vehicle, or bridge formula weights of up to 400 lbs over the limit.
