How To Ship A Dozer

Heavy machinery doesn’t stay in one place for long—it moves from one jobsite to the next, and it can’t be moved by simply driving it down the highway. Shipping equipment can require complex logistics and adherence to legal requirements that can vary from state to state. FR8Star is here to simplify the entire process. Whether you need to move a dozer or other construction equipment across town or across the country, FR8Star enables you to connect with qualified transport companies with extensive experience. Here are some tips to ensure your equipment transport goes smoothly.

Choose The Right Trailer

Ensure that the trailer used to haul the dozer has the space and capacity needed to accommodate the size and weight of the dozer and its attachments. Some of the most commonly used trailers are flatbed, step-deck, and lowboy trailers.

Prepare Your Dozer For Transport

First, it’s important to determine the size of your dozer. If it is large enough to warrant a wide load designation, that will involve additional fees and could slow delivery. You might be able to remedy this by altering the height, weight, and length of some items, and by removing any accessories, attachments, and components that can be shipped separately.

It is also important to immobilize any moving parts. The largest part of the dozer should be loaded first, so the blade should be toward the rear. In some cases, the blade may need to be removed.

Ensure there is nothing inside the cab that can move around and potentially damage controls. Depending on the travel distance, you may also want to disconnect the battery to make sure it doesn’t lose its charge during transport.
